Along the way, Nick finds himself all of a sudden getting help on some of the more difficult cases through Monroe, a guy who seems normal in the beginning but is soon revealed to get what you might contact a "big bad wolf". Literally!

It was announced with January 2011 that NBC had ordered a set entitled Grimm. David Greenwalt and Micheal Kouf co-wrote the preliminary, which was directed by simply Marc Buckland. Filming for the start began in March within Portland, Oregon. It was announced inside May 2011 that NBC had selected the series.

Greenwalt and Kouf provide as executive producers with the series along with Sean Hayes as well as Todd Milliner. The series is made by Universal Media Studios along with Hazy Mills Productions. It is filmed on location close by Portland.

On September 30, 2011, NBC decided to postpone the debut of Grimm by means of moving the premiere time frame from October 21 to October 28, 2011, so it could premiere nearer to Halloween.
